I was delighted to get an invitation from the Director of ‘Young Life’ to an information and fundraising event on Friday night. Having been involved in youth work for about 15 years myself, I know that this form of ministry can be both rewarding and challenging at the same time. I was very impressed by what I saw – a group of adults and youngsters committed to engaging with kids in their community. ‘Young Life’ seeks to build relationships with teenagers, inviting them to various activities [which certainly looked like good fun] and demonstrating unconditional acceptance of who they are. We have seen this year, with the riots in London, what teenagers can become when ignored and undervalued – this work aims to connect with young people in their own environment and show them that people care and God cares about every part of their lives. Projects such as ‘Young Life’ are investing in the future of our children and the passion of the leadership and young adults involved was completely infectious. I would highly recommend this organisation to all parents. The group is currently meeting in the Ballycrochan area and to find out what the work is all about or when the meetings are contact Craig Mawhinney on 07725888556
