Martin continues to push for play park in Ashbury / Kilmaine area
Wednesday 17th February 2016
Last week in the Councils Community and Wellbeing Committee we agreed to develop an over arching strategy for our new Borough in terms of Play parks. Back in 2012 I raised this issue with the old legacy Council and put forward a proposal that we should have play provision in the Ballymagee / Ashbury and Kilmaine area.
At that time a review of all the boroughs play parks was the commissioned and this area was then duly recognised by independent experts as a priority area for the Borough. This was based on the number of children in the area and the lack of current provision. Council agreed to place the appropriate amount into our capital budget for 2017–18 to build these play facilities. I will continue to work with Council Officers and lobby Councillors to ensure that our Borough has the proper facilities that all our children need for their social and physical development. Finally I will ensure that constituents in this area and their children are provided with the chance to enjoy physical play which is currently not provided for
